EXPERIENCE
He has been a lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Since 1983, where he rose to become a professor of Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology. While at ABU he was involved in the direct supervision and training of 26 post graduate students, who were awarded Masters and PhD degrees. He also carried out research in a number of areas, some of which are listed here.
Prof. T.K. Atala has authored two (2) books, wrote 20 schorlarly papers published in international journals. He also in 17 edited books/proceedings and presented 32 conference papers.
He has also served on the following boards and
committees at different times of his career including:
Board Member, Board of Directors for Kaduna State Farmers Supply Company, 1982.
Coordinator/Chairman, Technology Review (MTRMs), Kano State Agricultural Development Program (ADP), 1988 – 1990.
National Secretary, Nigerian Rural Sociological Association, 1987 – 1990.
Member of Accreditation Panel of the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the Agricultural Programs of Federal University of Technology, Akure, December 10 – 14, 1990.
Research Person/Chairman for the Program Implementation Monitoring Task Force, Zone Four, for the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA), Office of the Presidency, Abuja, (1993, 1994, 1996).
Resource Person for the Directorate of Food, Roads and Rural Infrastructures (DFFRI), Office of the President, Lagos, on “Community Structures of Bauchi Local Government Areas: Identification and Mapping”. A 229-page Report and 17 different maps of Bauchi State and its 16 LGAs were submitted to the Directorate, 1989.
Member, FEPA/Review Panels on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for (1) Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) 1998; (2) SNEPCO, 1999; (3) SPDC, 1999; (4) Shell Nigeria Gas (SNG) 2000; and SPDC, 2001.
Member, Subcommittee on Academic Brief of the Technical Committee on the Proposed Kaduna State University, Government Guess House, Modibbo Adama Road, Kaduna, February – May, 2003.
